Work and Travel USA is more than just a summer job. It´s a specific summer visa program that has been around for 70+ years, allowing students from all over the world to come to the U.S. to work during the summer. The visa you need is a little bit more  comprehensive than for many other countries, but it is a unique opportunity to live and work in the U.S. for a shorter period. We are therefore offering these jobs as part of a Summer Work and Travel Program where the job, visa and insurance are included. All the jobs pay a fair wage, but due to the initial costs, this is not a way to earn extra money for the fall. Instead it is an opportunity to break even and have an incredible summer in a new and exciting country!   How It Works

  The Program

  The largest and longest-running program of its kind, this J-1 cultural exchange program allows university students to come to the U.S. to perform seasonal work for up to four months, and then travel freely around the country for up to 30 days.

  How Does It Work?

  You will be welcomed as a visitor with a U.S. Department of State J-1 visa. This visa allows you to live and work in the United States for up to four months during your university summer break. It also gives you the possibility to travel for an additional 30 days after your job ends.
  
  Visitors with J-1 visas require a sponsor. Through a partnership between The North-West Passage and CIEE, the largest visa sponsor in the U.S., we are your sponsor in the Nordics for the Work & Travel USA program. We’re responsible for making sure you are prepared to live in America, have access to a good job with a responsible employer, and have a meaningful cultural exchange experience. We also monitor your health, safety and well-being while you are in this country.

  You will be working for one of thousands of employers located all across the United States. The North-West Passage can tell you all you need to know about your employment options.

  Are you Eligible?

  ​To be eligible for the CIEE Work & Travel USA Program, you must:

  • Be aged between 18-30 years old.
  • Be registered as a full-time university student.
  • Be able to function in English, both at work and in a community.
  • Have a pre-arranged job (CIEE can help).
  • Have at least $800 to support yourself upon arrival in the United States.

  ​What Are The Prices?

  ​The pricing for a Summer Work and Travel Program is $1595 and it secures your J-1 visa and your summer job at a company of your choice in the U.S. All jobs have competitive wages, so you will be able to earn back the initial fee's and more. The program fee is paid when you choose to accept a position.
  
  The program fee also includes;

  • Résumé review and revision.
  • Personalized matching, placement, and onboarding.
  • Assistance with your housing search (in some cases housing is included).
  • 24/7 access to top-quality support through our partner CIEE helps to ensure a hassle-free exchange experience​.
  • Special events, cultural guidance, and tips on things to see and do help to create a transformational experience in the U.S.

  
  ​*Additional fees are a $35 SEVIS registration fee and a $160 embassy interview fee, paid directly to the American Embassy.

  ​How do I apply?

  ​The Summer Jobs are exclusively sourced for us and you can only apply to these through The North-West Passage. Each employer will have a specific interview date and the employer will only interview one person per slot. So it is our job to source the best talents. If you are interested, please;

  2. If you want, schedule a free consultation with our Nordic speaking staff at The North-West Passage to learn more about the product and what to expect.
  3. Send us an e-mail with your resume, describing what or which jobs you are interested in.
  4. We will invite you for a Skype chat to check your eligibility and get to know you.
  5. Based on your experiences and wishes, we hope to offer you an interview slot.
  6. You officially apply for the program​ by registering your profile in our online application system.
  7. Interview with employer.
  8. If you are offered a job and you choose to accept it, we will continue with the work of getting you the necessary visa.
